About Dana Lis
Dr. Dana Lis is a globally recognized performance nutritionist with expertise in FODMAPs, exercise-induced gastrointestinal syndrome (EIGS), and the practical integration of cutting-edge nutrition into elite sport. One of the few Registered Dietitians (Canada), also holding the prestigious IOC Diploma in Sport Nutrition and a PhD, she brings nearly two decades of experience across research, professional teams, Olympic sport, and industry innovation.
After supporting select Team Canada athletes ahead of London 2012, her drive for measurable, science-based impact led her down the PhD pathway. With a practitioner’s eye for real-world application, her investigations into the effects of gluten-free diets and low-FODMAP strategies on GI symptoms in endurance athletes helped shape global best practices for managing EIGS and complement ongoing work from Monash University.
With one foot in research and the other in applied sport, Dr. Lis’ postdoctoral work in the UC Davis Baar Lab, exploring nutritional strategies to support tendon and ligament remodeling, directly applicable to reducing injury risk and accelerating return to performance. This created a natural bridge to the NBA, where she is now in her seventh season as the Performance Nutrition Consultant for the Golden State Warriors. Her role centers on translating research into real-world strategy: supporting player health, optimizing fueling systems, and strengthening evidence-based integration within the team’s high-performance model. She continues to support select Olympians and elite athletes across sport.
Today, Dana collaborates with organizations where her diverse and comprehensive skillsets can catalyze all sectors of performance nutrition. She advises professional teams, start-ups, and performance programs on:
Modernizing or rebuilding performance nutrition systems
Developing evidence-based products, protocols, or athlete-facing tools
Integrating GI-focused and connective-tissue-informed nutrition strategies
Building meaningful collaborations at the intersection of science, sport, and industry
Her work drives innovation where performance nutrition, science, and industry meet.

“On a personal note, I just have to say that your session at CPSDA really inspired me. I was able to share what I learned about FODMAPs with our team, but above all you presented it in a way that was easy for someone without a background in dietetics to understand and retain. The 2 semesters of physiology I took in college were hands down the toughest courses I ever took, and it deterred me from exploring the subject once I graduated. Understanding how relevant it is to my work with KIND, coupled with how well you were able to explain the effects of FODMAPs on the digestive system, has prompted me to engage in a lot of personal study since the conference. A decade later, I’m finding that what I’m learning is genuinely making sense the second time around. Thank you so much—you genuinely lit a spark.”
